While it is suggested that grant-seekers across Grounds contact the Foundation Relations office prior to initiating contact with foundations whenever possible, the following foundations are considered Priority Foundations by UVa.
This means that funding requests to the following foundations and corporations may be a part of an active strategy from the Office of the President. Therefore we ask that all faculty and development professionals make Foundation Relations aware of outreach, contact, and submissions, ideally in advance. This request is not meant to interfere with responses to open RFPs, pre-existing relationships with program officers, previously established funding streams or in any way impede the submissions process with additional bureacracy. Instead, it is simply meant to help coordinate our efforts so that we do not appear to the funder to be disorganized or fragmented across the University. Contact Kelly Ard, Assistant Vice President for Corporate and Foundation Relations, at (205) 994-5517 or [email protected] with questions or to let the team know about your outreach.
In addition to contacting Foundation Relations, you may wish to discuss your idea, outreach or submission with your respective school/unit development officer, research administrator, or associate dean.
Please note, several foundations (some included below, and others) have limited submission opportunties; submissions to these funders are managed through the Vice President for Research's office. Click here to see the list of limited submission opportunities that must go through that office, and contact [email protected] for more information or questions.
